If there ever was a poster child for the Metaverse, it’s the video game industry. From the days of arcade cabinets to sophisticated games for living rooms, from pocket-sized handheld systems to powerful home consoles, from wired controllers to wireless connectivity, from hard-wired platforms to today’s Virtual and Augmented Reality devices, the industry has always been at the forefront of innovating immersive experiences.

Modern gaming has evolved significantly surpassing other forms of entertainment in size, revenue, and reach. Gamers make up 26% of the world’s population, generating $155 billion in revenue in 2020 alone. With the rise of eSports and streaming platforms, a lot of people these days are making a living from the comfort of their couch — well into the 7-figure region for some of the top streamers in the world. As the industry continues to deliver cutting-edge technology for digital reality immersion, other sectors may start to look at leveraging their existing framework to get onboard. Facebook’s recent rebranding to Meta is a prime example of this.

Gamers have spent quite the tidy sum buying in-game items with one company alone, Roblox — reporting $652.3 million in virtual currency sales for the second quarter of 2021. However, these digital assets are not irrevocable. Trading and converting them back to real-world currency is tightly controlled by centralized entities and there’s no way to track true ownership.

Players want to be able to trade and exchange the unique digital assets they’ve earned with their skills, but the traditional tools just don’t have the ability to do so. Solving this is what blockchain-backed gaming economy is all about.

Manufacturing the Next Game Ecosystem

Imagine forging a piece of armor or weapon that’s one-of-a-kind, or breeding creatures with unique attributes, or levelling up your player-character and customizing the stats and appearance, while also being rewarded with the currency you can actually spend elsewhere. With NFTs, you can do this and more.

NFTs are the building blocks of the decentralized gaming economy. Their ownership can be bought, sold, rented, lent, or transferred between players. A NFT uniquely “owns” a physical or digital object within a particular shared universe, with that unique ownership being represented by a transferrable record in a blockchain registry. NFTs are rapidly gaining traction for many reasons, but first and foremost is that they can be easily traded — unlike most other digital items. Applying the fundamental economic principle of supply and demand, also means that one NFT can be worth vastly more than another with similar functionality. For these reasons and more, NFTs represent a unique and intriguing use case for gaming assets

ManuFactory is a NFT game inspired by the hit indie game, Factorio. It is a survival-based construction and management simulation game where you build, craft, research, fortify and protect one or multiple survival fortresses on a randomly generated map. With an endlessly expandable world, there are no limits to what you can achieve. Each fortress has the ability to construct new buildings but must focus on defense because monsters will attack constantly.

Rather than opting for the usual play-to-earn approach, ManuFactory, is building an innovative and interactive gameplay model around a play-and-earn, offering players the ability to earn as they play. Players will be able to access multiple streams of income from playing the game including:

  • Playing the main storyline using NFT items to generate $FACTORY
  • Share in $FACTORY production for being a landowner or worker
  • Complete the Daily Quest for $FACTORY
  • Yield farm $MNFT
  • PVP/PVE games for a chance to win $MNFT
  • Chance to win NFT loot boxes based on how long they hold $MNFT token
  • Seasonal rewards based on leaderboard position
  • Selling their NFT items at the marketplace for $MNFT

With an initial release on PC first followed by a mobile version, ManuFactory, is positioning itself to be the number one contender of the NFT eSport scene. NearPad is delighted to be one of the launchpads ManuFactory will be launching its Token Distribution event on. Details to come in the coming days.
